Live the experience, discover, explore, escape, listen, feel…
Each year one of the most incredible phenomena in the animal world takes place. The Great Migration is an intense event that attracts travelers from around the world. Over two million wild animals migrate, the majority of them being wildebeest, although they are joined by zebras, gazelles, antelopes, topis and many other animals in the immense plains of Masai Mara and Serengeti. A unique and authentic experience in an unparalleled ecosystem with the highest concentration of wild animals in the world.
This phenomenon emerges with the rain cycle which triggers a large migration of wildlife between the Masai Mara and the Serengeti which leads to a number of river crossings. The most important and famous river crossing takes place in the Mara river, close to Kandili Camp, where the crocodiles await the wildebeest.
The great migration usually takes place in the months of July, August and September. From there, it continues in less quantity during October.
Our guides will take you to one of the river crossing points in the hopes of witnessing this event. In addition, Kandili Camp is fortunate to be in a privileged location. The herds of wildebeest and zebras cross our open camp, creating a unique and memorable feeling and experience.
We invite you to experience this with us!
Imagine walking freely in the wilderness surrounded by wildlife. Kandili Camp is the only camp situated in the beautiful Leopard Gorge Conservancy.
Our guests can walk in our wonderful private conservancy and discover the indescribable beauty and life of the Leopard Gorge. Accompanied by an experienced Masai guide, the walking safaris begin with an explanation of our bone collection. You will explore this wonderful area which is known worldwide thanks to BBC nature documentary. You will also enjoy the breath-taking views over the National Reserve, with the Olololo escarpment in the background.
“There are very few places in the heart of Masai Mara where you can take a walking safari.”
Game drives, in Leopard Gorge and the Masai Mara National Reserve, offer unforgettable moments that allow you to enjoy the immense beauty and diversity of both areas. Experience night game drives in our conservancy and enjoy the excitement of searching for the big cats and hyenas roaming around our camp.
During your stay you also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Maasai culture. The Maasai are a proud warrior tribe, most of whom still preserve their traditional way of life. We organize cultural talks and visits to the nearest manyatta (village). The villagers kindly open their homes to travelers and you are welcomed with a lively dance followed by a small craft and souvenir market. All income from these activities goes directly to the community.
Enjoy a fabulous sunset accompanied with a sundowner at one of our wonderful locations within our conservancy area. An experience not to be missed as it will always be remembered once you return home.
Be ready with the first colours of dawn, so we can take you to the Double Gorge to enjoy the spectacular moments of sunrise, accompanied with coffee, tea, sweets and juice.
